Is There Room for Improvement?
Currently, healthcare professionals rely on their experience and subjective assessment to determine if wounds, such as Burn injuries and Diabetic Foot Ulcers will respond to therapeutic treatment. Many wounds will not respond to standard wound care therapy and would have benefited from advanced wound care therapy.
DeepView® aims to reduce waiting times, minimize patient cost and lower the probability of infections by offering advanced wound care therapy on Day One.
Accurate Wound
Care Assessment
Impacts Patients Outcomes and Cost of Care
Chronic wounds affect millions of patients worldwide, placing a huge burden on health care resources. Although significant progress has been made in the development of wound treatments, very few advances have been made in wound care diagnosis.
Inaccurately or Prolonged Assessment
Can Lead to Greater Complications, Prolonged Lengths of Stay and Increased Costs
Diabetic Foot Ulcers
Physicians are currently using a wait and see approach up to 30 days to designate a DFU as not closing before using advanced wound care therapies. This results in higher probability of infections and longer healing times. DFU’s can lead to limb amputation if left undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or untreated.
Burn Wounds
Burn care providers typically assess the depth of burn wounds incorrectly in about 25-30% of injuries, partly because burn wound evaluation has no adjunctive labs or diagnostics to aid in the determination of healing versus non-healing. Complications of burn depth assessment include unnecessary operation, delay of grafting procedure, and over excision of viable skin.
